Giving Tuesday is an international movement created as a day of giving. It refers to the Tuesday following Black Friday and Cyber Monday and this year happens to be Tuesday, November 28. This year, take a break from the shopping craziness and consider supporting a cause that is near and dear to your heart.
In 2016, $117 million was raised online for nonprofit organizations*. One of the best parts of Giving Tuesday is all of the exposure that our hardworking nonprofit partners receive. Sometimes Giving Tuesday inspires donors to match funds raised, so that means that if you decided to join in on the movement that your funds can be leveraged and doubled. Are you willing to join the movement? There are lots of ways to get involved with #GivingTuesday. Here's a list of possibilities, but let your passion be your guide and make sure it's meaningful to you.
- Volunteer your time.
- Make a monetary donation.
- Buy or make items like gloves, hats, scarves, food, toys, etc. and then donate them.
- Inspire others to get involved.
To say Giving Tuesday has a huge social media presence is a bit of an understatement. In 2016 more than 2.39 million social media posts took place. Use your social media networks to spread the word about this growing movement and share what you're doing to make an impact on your community! Use the #GivingTuesday hashtag and tell your story. Let's join together and make an impact in our communities!
