UTTMA — Uniform Transfers to Minors Act

  • Minor must be eligible for membership. Membership eligibility not required for custodian.
  • Minor cannot access funds until reaching the age set by custodian.
  • When the minor reaches designated age, the custodian must supply written consent to be removed OR complete an Account Ownership Release form.
  • Once the custodian releases their interest, the account is closed and a new general membership account is opened in the minor's name.

Minor Certificates require a $250 minimum opening deposit. Funds are not accessible for withdrawal or transfer for 90 days. Closure of certificate prior to 90 days will result in forfeiture of bonus offer.

* Beginning Sept. 17, 2026, the first 1,600 new minor accounts opened with a minimum deposit of $50 will receive a bonus deposit of $50 or $300. The amount of the bonus deposit will be determined by the minor making a random drawing of a squishy toy. Sky blue, cream and dark blue squishies: $50 bonus. Lime squishy: $300 bonus (300 available). The bonus will be deposited to the account within one week of account opening. Minor Savings accounts earn 0.10% APY (Annual Percentage Yield). Rates accurate as of July 1, 2026. Minimum balance to earn APY is $1.00. Fees may reduce earnings. Limit one drawing per member. Accounts must be opened at a physical branch location.

By opening a minor account before Feb. 14, 2027, your child will automatically be entered into a drawing for the chance to meet Seattle defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence. Alternative entries can be made by visiting any physical branch and filling out an entry form. Must be under age 18 to enter. One entry per person. One hundred twenty winners will be randomly selected. Winners and their families (up to three additional family members) will be invited. Drawings will take place Oct. 7, 2026, and Feb. 15, 2027. Winners will be notified by email and need not be present to win. Contest sponsored by WSECU, 330 Union Ave. SE, Olympia, WA. Accounts must be opened in person at any branch. Odds of winning dependent upon number of entries.
