WSECU promotes Ryan Brooks to newly-created VP position

Feb. 10, 2020 (Olympia, WA) – Reflecting the increasing migration of consumer banking activity to digital channels, WSECU today announced that Ryan Brooks has been promoted to Vice President of Digital Acquisition Systems. In this newly created role, he will oversee the credit union’s efforts to make the account opening and lending experiences simple and intuitive through online and mobile channels.

Ryan’s 12-year tenure with WSECU began in the Contact Center. His most recent role was Director of Digital Lending, where he led a team to reimagine a new digital loan application which ultimately won the organization a technology excellence award from the CUNA Technology Council.

The newly-created vice president role reflects WSECU’s emphasis on delivering exceptional digital banking solutions that make members’ lives easier and support their financial wellness. Last year, the credit union processed more than 6.5 million digital transactions for members. Digital is the leading channel preference for new account opening.

In addition to appreciating the culture and cooperative values of WSECU, Brooks says he also likes being able to find solutions and efficiencies in the roles he has held.

"I like to challenge things," Brooks said. "I didn’t expect to see the disruptor mentality within WSECU but it is here and it allows us to disrupt – and improve – the way we do business."

Brooks encouraged his team members in 2015 to improve the efficiency of their work and the team was able to save nearly a full employee's-worth of time, allowing the team more flexibility to take on new and more high-value projects.

Going forward, Brooks anticipates the new role will allow him to continue to lead the charge as WSECU works to be more agile and responsive to changing member needs.
