Our 3 pillars of giving

Education

Education remains a great equalizer. Central to our mission are partnerships with youth-focused organizations centered around education, such as GEAR UP, Boys & Girls Clubs, Communities in Schools, Junior Achievement, LifeSmarts and public higher education, with an emphasis on supporting first-generation college students and students of color.

Self-sufficiency

We’re dedicated to helping people — no matter where they are on their financial journey — including support for basic needs programs that address food scarcity, shelter, senior services and more. We’re proud to work with organizations such as Second Harvest and Habitat for Humanity, and to help groups with financial wellness classes.

Public employees and assets

Our history is rooted in public service. WSECU was founded by public employees dedicated to advancing our common good. Supporting people, programs and events that expand access to our shared public treasures isn’t just central to our mission. It’s who we are.

Equitable access to financial services

Credit unions were founded on the idea of neighbors coming together. As a financial institution we embrace our special responsibility to expand equitable access in financial services, and are committed to the additional work we can do as a credit union to reduce systemic racism.

A long-standing commitment to education

We’ve embarked on a multiyear partnership with University of Washington’s Tacoma and Bothell branch campuses to support student success, especially for underrepresented students of color.

Volunteerism at work

We provide paid time off so our team can share their talent and time volunteering in their communities — at schools, food banks, blood drives, state parks and countless other nonprofit organizations — creating a lasting impact in every corner of Washington state.

Empowering employees to give

Our "Up to Some Good” program reimburses every employee $100 to pay it forward, every year — however they see fit. So far, employees have helped hundreds of people and organizations through small gestures of kindness, from filling up a neighbor’s gas tank to crossing supplies off animal shelters’ wish lists.

Expanding access to our great outdoors

All Washingtonians deserve to reap the benefits of our great outdoors. To foster inclusion for underserved communities, we invest in Check Out Washington with the Washington State Parks Foundation. Now library card holders can check out adventure packs containing a Discover Pass, binoculars, nature guides and hit the trails.
