Overdraft Services

5 minute read

Overdraft Privilege is now Courtesy Pay

For more information on this change, please read the Courtesy Pay section below.

Overdraft Services

Our overdraft services provide you with options when you don't have the funds to cover your transactions. Our checking accounts can be tied to a number of products to provide overdraft protection and Courtesy Pay provides an additional safety net.

Overdraft Protection

Overdraft Protection links your savings, alternate checking, Personal Line of Credit or credit card accounts to cover transactions up to your available balance.

How it works

Overdraft Protection will automatically transfer money from your WSECU savings, alternate checking or credit card account to cover the overdraft amount for a fee1. No fee is charged for advances from a Personal Line of Credit.

Eligible Accounts

Savings account and other checking accounts you have with WSECU are eligible to be used to cover overdrafts.

Courtesy Pay

Important Changes Now in Effect

  • The name has changed from Overdraft Privilege to Courtesy Pay
  • You can view your limit any time in Online Banking
  • Your limit is now more consistent with the potential to change only once a month rather than once a day

Courtesy Pay is automatically provided to cover outstanding checks, in-person withdrawals, return deposit items and electronic transactions as long as you maintain qualifying deposits. You can also opt in to allow Courtesy Pay to cover your ATM and everyday debit card transactions.

How it works

If your account doesn't have enough money to cover a transaction and no other overdraft protection options (e.g., savings account, Personal Line of Credit or Visa line of credit) are available, Courtesy Pay kicks in. Transactions that would have been declined will be allowed to clear up to your established limit. A $27.00 fee will be charged each time we pay an overdraft with Courtesy Pay. There is a daily cap of five (5) fees charged. If the overdrawn account balance is less than $3.00, no fee will be charged.

It’s flexible

We determine your limit by considering the length of time you've had your account with us as well as the deposits you've made to your checking account in the past two months.

How to request it

Courtesy Pay is automatic for checks and electronic payments. You must opt in for ATM and everyday debit card transactions.

Alternative Options

Give us a call or visit a branch to explore other options that may best suit your financial needs, including:

  • Q-Cash loan (no credit check required)
  • Home Equity Loan/Line of Credit
