Overdraft Privilege Becoming Courtesy Pay on July 15

For more information on this change, read the Overdraft Privilege/Courtesy Pay section below.

Overdraft Services

Our overdraft services provide you with options when you don't have the funds to cover your transactions. Our checking accounts can be tied to a number of products to provide overdraft protection and Overdraft Privilege/Courtesy Pay provides an additional safety net.

Overdraft Protection

Overdraft Protection links your savings, alternate checking, Personal Line of Credit or credit card accounts to cover transactions up to your available balance.

How it works
Overdraft Protection will automatically transfer money from your WSECU savings, alternate checking or credit card account to cover the overdraft amount for a fee1. No fee is charged for advances from a Personal Line of Credit.

Eligible Accounts
Savings account and other checking accounts you have with WSECU are eligible to be used to cover overdrafts.

Maximum 6 transfers from savings account per month2.

Overdraft Privilege/Courtesy Pay

Important Changes in Effect July 15

  • The name will be changing from Overdraft Privilege to Courtesy Pay
  • You'll be able to view your limit any time in Online Banking
  • Your limit will be more consistent with the potential to change only once a month rather than once a day

Overdraft Privilege/Courtesy Pay is automatically provided to cover outstanding checks, in-person withdrawals, return deposit items and electronic transactions as long as you maintain qualifying deposits. You can also opt in to allow Overdraft Privilege/Courtesy Pay to cover your ATM and everyday debit card transactions.

How it works
If your account doesn't have sufficient available funds and all other current overdraft protection options (e.g., savings account, Personal Line of Credit or Visa line of credit) are not available, Overdraft Privilege/Courtesy Pay kicks in. Transactions that would have been returned or declined for non-sufficient funds will be allowed to clear up to your established limit. A fee of $27.00 will be charged each time we pay an overdraft with Overdraft Privilege/Courtesy Pay. There is a daily cap of five (5) fees charged for overdrafting your account. If the negative account balance is less than $3.00, no fee will be charged.

It’s flexible
We determine your limit by considering the length of time you've had your account with us as well as the deposits you've made to your checking account in the past month.

How to request it
Overdraft Privilege/Courtesy Pay is automatic for checks and electronic payments. You must opt in for ATM and everyday debit card transactions.
