About Overdraft Services
Our overdraft services provide you with protection and funding alternatives for those times when your checking account doesn’t have the sufficient amount for a transaction. Overdraft Protection works by tying your checking account to other WSECU accounts and allows you to withdraw from those other sources when necessary. Courtesy Pay provides an additional safety net. When your checking account comes up short, we can help keep you covered.
Overdraft Protection
Overdraft Protection links your checking account to your other eligible WSECU accounts and uses the additional available balance to cover transactions when needed.
How it works
Overdraft Protection automatically transfers money from your linked WSECU accounts to cover the overdraft amount for a fee1. No fee is charged for advances from a Personal Line of Credit.

Eligible Accounts
WSECU savings and checking accounts, credit cards and Personal Line of Credit accounts are eligible to cover overdrafts.
Courtesy Pay
WSECU automatically covers outstanding checks, in-person withdrawals, return deposit items and electronic transactions through Courtesy Pay when you maintain qualifying deposits. You can also opt in to allow Courtesy Pay to cover your ATM and everyday debit card transactions.
How it works
If your checking account is about to be overdrawn and no other overdraft protection options (e.g., savings account, Personal Line of Credit or Visa® line of credit) are available, Courtesy Pay kicks in. Instead of being declined, transactions that are within your established limit will clear. A $27.00 fee will be charged each time we pay an overdraft with Courtesy Pay. There is a daily cap of five (5) fees charged. If the overdrawn amount is less than $10.00, no fee will be charged.

It’s flexible
Courtesy Pay limits are subject to change monthly and are determined by the length of time you've had your WSECU account and by the deposits made to your checking account in the past two months. You can view your limit any time in Online Banking.
How to request it
Courtesy Pay is automatic for checks and electronic payments. You must opt in for ATM and everyday debit card transactions.
Give us a call or visit a branch to opt in.
WSECU pays overdrafts at our discretion. We do not guarantee that we will always authorize and pay any type of transaction. If we do not authorize and pay an overdraft, your transaction will be declined. See our Courtesy Pay Policy for full details.
Alternative Options
Give us a call or visit a branch to explore other options that may best suit your financial needs, including:
